By following these steps, tape-in extensions can last 6-8 weeks and even longer per installation and be reused 2-3 times with proper care. When in doubt, consult your stylist!
1. Washing & Drying 💧

Wait 48 hours after installation before washing to let the adhesive fully bond.
Use sulfate-free shampoo (sulfates weaken the adhesive).
Avoid conditioner near the tapes: Apply conditioner only from mid-lengths to ends.
Wash gently:
- Flip hair upside down to prevent tangling.
- Use lukewarm water (not hot).
- Massage shampoo in downward motions—never scrub or twist the tapes.
Pat dry with a microfiber towel—avoid rubbing or wringing.
Air-dry whenever possible. If blow-drying, use low heat and keep the dryer 6+ inches away from tapes.
2. Daily Brushing 🪮
Use a soft-bristle brush or loop brush (designed for extensions).
Brush 2-3 times daily to prevent tangles and matting.
Technique:
- Start brushing from the ends, slowly working upward to the roots.
- Hold the roots gently to avoid pulling on the tapes.
- Never yank through knots.

3. Avoid Heat & Chemicals 🧴

Limit heat styling: If using flat irons or curling wands (120-150°C / 250-300°F), avoid direct contact with the tapes.
Use heat protectant on mid-lengths and ends.
Avoid oil-based products (serums, leave-ins) near the tapes—they dissolve the adhesive.
Skip chlorine/saltwater: Wear a swim cap or coat hair with conditioner before swimming.
4. Nighttime Care 🌙
Braid hair loosely or tie it in a low ponytail/bun to prevent tangling.
Use a silk/satin pillowcase to reduce friction and static.

5. Maintenance Routine 💇

Tighten tapes every 4-6 weeks: Visit a stylist to reposition or replace loose wefts.
Avoid DIY removal: Improper removal can damage your natural hair and the extensions.
Check adhesive regularly: If tapes feel loose, schedule a professional adjustment.
